UV Map Buf. Shadows & Fading Alphas

Working on a new project and I had a couple questions that I was hoping some people here could help me out with. First of all, I’m using a plane with an Image UV mapped to it so that I can see the words of a company logo. Is there any way to have the buf. shadow (w/ halo) ‘see’ the non-transparent parts of that uv map and cast shadow using it?

Also, I want to have that plane fade to invisible as part of an animation however I’m using the UV alpha already so I don’t have the option to fade the overall alpha of the material as far as I can see. Any tips??


You can cast shodows with alpha maps only with ray traced shadows, there is not buffer shadow casting for alpha maps yet!:frowning:
