UV map textures become transparent when it's made "darker"?

I’ve been trying to add a facial decal onto this game model using the UV editor but I wanted it to be a dark red. I tried using nodes to change the color but any time I try to make the color darker, it becomes transparent. Like so:

I’ve tried with other transparent images as well to see if it was the image I was using, but I keep getting the same result. I don’t really understand nodes too well and I’m pretty much a novice when it comes to these things. I played around with these settings in these nodes a bunch and still haven’t gotten it to just making it a darker red.

I’ve also tried just putting the facial decal on it’s own texture and was able to make it darker like that. It seems to be when it’s from a UV map that I am getting this issue.

Can anyone suggest what I should do?

Just use the alpha value

Also use the “mix” mode, not “multiply”

Oh my god, thank you so much. I didn’t realize you could plug the alpha into the factor like that.
