uv-maping polygons to the same space

hi, I have alot of polygons on a mesh that are going to look identical. they are the same shape and the same size and I want them to share the same uv space. is there anyway to tell blender to put them in the same place on unwrap?

If they are individual faces, unwrap one of the faces the way you want. Select all the other faces and then select the unwraped face last (so that it is the active face with the checkered highlight). Now, press Ctrl-C and choose “active UV coords”.

and if they are not individual faces?

Best I can tell for face islands, you have to unwrap them as individual islands and then manually align them in the UV window. But, I could be wrong. However, the tools posted in the following thread would make this task easier (like the auto weld):
