hey, i am trying to figure out the whole uv map thing, but i cant seem to get anything to work realy well. Can someone show me a good tutorial for uv maping and unwraping please. Also, what is the best type for most objects.
I found the one called LSCM UVmapping very helpful. (The first listing in the second table). It’s a video, so hopefully it won’t take forever to download, but it was worth it for me!
yeah, i did do an earth using the lcsm but i wasnt sure if thats the best.
thanks for the tut, im downloading now. Il let you know how it goes.
There’s a really great one. I’m going to look for it.
Got it:
Hey thank you henrymop.
Never seen that one before.
Looks good.
That should help you out guitarplay.
That is a very good and well written tutorial. I printed the whole thing out when it was first posted. The only problem that I have with LSCM uvunwrapping is with imported models. Some times when you import a model the polygon count is so high that you have to decimate it. When you uses blender’s built in decimator it converts all the nice quads (like you see in the tutorial below) to triangles. Well I dare someone to make really good seams with a mesh that is all triangles. LSCM is a GREAT addition to blender but if the mesh is not all or mostly quads you are going to have problems unwraping it because the seams just will not go the right way.
