UV mapping and multiple material


ok i have searched the forum on this topic but i don’t get it.
here what i have reached so far:

I have a cube (subdivide it 3 times). Select 2 materials for the cube (the first one plain red & the other one a UV mapped). I assign faces for each material. For the UV mapping I seltect textface under material panel. It works fine.

Now, as my image has Alpha, i want the faces UV textured to be red. So i deleted the UV and created a material with a texture with the image used in the UV panel. I position it with the uv button in the mapto panel. but my texture is repeated twice on each faces.

What is going wrong there?

I solved it, I don’t have to delete the UV.
