UV Mapping for weird shape

Hi All,

I am trying to unwrap a shape I made in Blender and am having trouble with setting the uv seams correctly. It is basically a cylinder and then another extruding part below that leaves the middle empty. I know the basics of unwrapping but I am having trouble with a more complex shape. Does anyone have an overall strategy for unwrapping this type of a shape?

I have attached a picture of the shape

Thank you for your help!

A little tough to get the shape from ortho projection, is this like dog dish?

What I would suggest is to make the side one portion of the map and the center another. You also may be better off having the sides and bottom solids rather than faces too.
