uv mapping problem

i tried uv mapping something and when i render the mesh that i uv mapped its completely black. is there any way to fix this

Open an Image.

Click TexFace in the Materials.

thats what i did but it still is black

open an image while the UV layout is displayed in the UV/Image Editor window with the object in UV Face Select Mode. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Using_UV_Textures

also. how do i make uv mapping work when i use yafray to render. because i just tried to render with yafray and the uv mapped mesh just didnt have anything on it at all.
