UV mapping question [mods please move if needed]

One problem i have is getting UV mapping to work for my models.

the big problem is blender really likes to pretzel the mapping so it looks nothing like the model.

Given im working on a catsuit type model what would be the best way to do the mapping without a lot of hand adjusting?

what i need to do is fix the sides (they end up overlapped)

Show us what you don’t like about the unwrap so we know what you’re thinking

What does this mean ?

You can add seams to selected edges of your model (Ctrl+E / Add Seam) to control how it unwraps
What uv unwrap method did you use

the way i did the mapping from the blend was a lot of hand selecting and then i think i used “project from view” to do the front and back

the current problem is the sides landed up under the front. I have updated the file so that the sides are now pulled out (but would like to reattach them to the front).

as far as pretzeling if i select say the front and then do a straight Unwrap it lands up looking like it is crumpled into a ball.

can you point me at any kind of tutorial that 1 covers 2.7 anything 2 is working on clothing (text is preferred)?
