I’m a little confused about UV mapping. I want to map bump maps to certain faces on my object, but I don’t want to have to do LSCM wrapping on the whole object if I can avoid it. However, when I unwrap selected faces only and put my bump map in, then assign that as a nor texture in the material, I get these pockmarks all over the object, in the places where I had not selected the faces for mapping. Any idea why this is happening? If the description isn’t clear I’ll post a picture.
In the texture panel…“Map To”, click UV instead of the default Orco. You should be using the same or a grayscale image of the texture you used for UV mapping.
Also, if you only want to do a few faces, you may want to create a new material index for the object. In edit mode, select the faces that you will be UV mapping, in the Link and materials panel, click on New (on the right hand side) to create a new material index.
