UV Maps and Material Colors (2 issues)

  1. I have a PNG with some transparency that I’m using as a UV Map. Is it possible to have a material color under it? It seems as soon as I click TextFace it hides the material color sliders. Is it an either/or proposition with UV Maps and Materials?

  2. Another issue is if I have a texture applied to faces that have a UV Map (with transparent areas), the texture only shows up in the non-transparent areas of the UV Map even when TextFace is NOT clicked (for textures mapped to color).

Using Blender 2.41

instead of using TexFace, add an image texture and set the mapping coords [default to orco] to UV

this will however not allow you to have your image applied to only particular faces… unless you use a different material on those faces…

however it will allow you to do whatever you like in combination with other textures.

That worked. Is this a preferred method? Why do it the other way?
