UV Maps and YafRay Question...

Could anyone point me to instructions on how to make
UV maps appear when rendered in yafray? I use Blender’s internal
YafRay support and do not use any exporter…

The problem is that when I use Blender’s internal renderer, everythings
ok, but one I turn on YafRay on the Render Panel the textures/maps
doesn’t appear… I’m using 2.41 and latest YafRay…thanks!

Yafray FAQ, first question:

http://wiki.yafray.org/bin/view.pl/UserDoc/FaqEng

It is not that UV texturing is not supported, but that some image formats are not suported

I use JPEG for my textures and Windows version of YafRay, so I’m not sure
if I need to download additional libraries(?)… i’ll try converting them to TGA if that is the “default” image format for the window’s version of YafRay…

So basically if I used images supported by YafRay will it come out the same with blender’s internal renderer just by switching the renderer from blender internal to YafRay? or do I need to change some settings? if I do, which settings would that be? really appreciate the help sir.

P.S. pointers or help in rendering alpha maps is also needed…

UV mapping is supported, that’s for sure.

Then, if you’re using a yafray-supported texture map, the problem could be lighting. In this same FAQs there is a section about how YafRay deals with lighting and which are the differences with blender.

It is also a good idea keeping an eye in the Blender terminal when rendering in case that it appears a yafray warning missage about a texture not loaded or something like that.

Alpha mapping is supported, it is a bit explained in the Yafray 0.0.8 release notes, but I would like to write about this subject in the FAQs as well.

You should use ‘ZTransp’ for materials that have texture maps with alpha channels, but with the exception that you still have to set alpha to a low value to get any transparency effect at all in Yafray. Remeber to set your texture to “Alpha” mode, in the “map to” panel.

PD: Blender packed textures won’t work, yafray can look inside blender files for textures, valid path is needed.

It WORKED! I was using a PNG texture and NOT JPG (stupid me)
forgot to look at the console as well, sorry about that…

i’ll be trying your instructions regarding the alpha maps once i get home
thanks for the help sir!!!
