Was really just thinking about snowflakes but then tinkered with colors and got Halloween flakes and Easter Flakes - Mirroring UVs isn’t too new but I was trying make a YT video about it (software wasn’t recording).
To me, I think these would be bada$$ starship engine effects/thrust but the orange and black is pretty as is too. Their look is location dependent mixed with the UV mirroring. So every flake is different.
But not every flake is different enough - 144 show some that are really similar/off by just a few pixels. I’ll make the Nodes better and then try that video again.
(My final reply to this thread unless some miracle comes along.) Found a way in post to not only lessen near-duplicates but also add intrigue. In GIMP there’s a layer blending mode called Luma/Luminance Darken Only and with a second render of different flakes over the first, the results are lovelier.
