UV stretching problem!

Hello. I’m making a custom texture and I’ve encountered a problem. The UV-s stretch weirdly in the middle (and only there) each time I add a subdivision surface modifier.
Here’s how it looks:
Without subdivision

With subdivision

And here’s the center line where the stretching occurs:

I’ve tried adding more loops but it doesen’t help. They need to be VERY close to the center loop in order for the stretching to stop. Edge crease did work but the model looks wrong with it.
I’m stuck and I don’t know what to do. Please help.

You can see the mesh changes when you add a subsurf modifer

When you used U / Unwrap, did you enable the ‘Use Subsurf Modifier’ in the unwrap options ?

Thanks for the reply!
But the UV-map (and the model) were pre-made. I simply imported the model into blender and began painting my own texture.

UPD: when i subdivide the model in edit mode (not by modifier) the problem does not seem to appear. Still, it’s not that comfortable and I’d prefer to work with the modifier while not having such artifacts.
