UV texture troubles

Hi, I’m working on familiarizing myself with UV mapping and I’m having trouble getting decent results.

The black spots are supposed to be circles but in some places they are weirdly deformed, same as the eyes. I don’t remember if I was using bounds or from window.

Subsurf tends to deform UV mappings. :frowning:

so, I should convert subsurf to mesh and then re-map? :

you could try just adjusting the UVs to compensate, though it is tricky.
