UV unwrap help - wooden frame mesh

Hello,

Have been struggling with this for some time. I am trying to apply a wooden texture material to a wooden frame. What is the best way to unwrap this? Am trying to have the pattern of the wood follow the direction of my diagram below:

Thanks in advance.

Just rotate your UV faces as necessary!

Just add seams to the edges that you want to be separated in the UV. It should do the job.
That’s the most basic UV unwrapping workflow.

Hello, Thanks both for replies.

I think I have worked out the problem. I need to select each face and unwrap individually. I just wonder if this is the correct way of going about it.
@gtomorrow Thanks for this suggestion but this isn’t the same mesh shape as mine and doesn’t direct the wood pattern the way I want it.

If you mark edges as seams they will be separate when you unwrap. gtomorrow’s shape is an approximation of yours and their suggestion at the bottom is still valid. You will have to rotate your parts to align them with the image you are using. Without more images, I am unable to help more.

Got it. Thanks for the help!
