How to unwrap door ways to apply brick texture
Sorry, I don’t understand what you’re asking – do you want to unwrap this to texture the building, the doorway, the door, or all of it? Also, posting your blend file would help.
If I’d use UV, I’d probably just select one doorway face, then the neighboring wall and use unwrap/follow active quads.
how do you uv unwrap this for better texture painting with photoshop
I’d mark seams along the roofline, the doorjam, the door, and one of the back corners of the walls. Without the model to test it on I can’t be sure, but after that a simple UV unwrap might be just what you need – if not please post more details of the problem and the blend file.
unwrap.obj (2.7 KB) Can you unwrap this?
In 2.8, go to the “UV Editing” tab at the top
You can press the “U” key for various unwrap options.
Whatever you have selected in edit mode, it will act on those.
It will show the verts in 2d on the left-side, how you would paint on them in PS. (it will show only the ones you have selected on the right! all of them count as unwrapped though)
You can move around 1 vert/face at a time if you’d like, but like other posters have said there are a number of easy ways. Given the small number of faces in your house, it might be wise to put them 1 at a time just where you want them. You could always experiment with features later when you feel good about it.
Two different unwraps in 2.80: 20190908_Kumaran_sip_Unwrap_001.blend has no seams, was Project From View (Front Orthographic) unwrapped, most of the edge pinned, UV unwrapped, and the remaining vertices realigned by hand. 20190908_Kumaran_sip_Unwrap_002.blend has seams marked around the doorframe and windowframe, UV unwrapped, then the islands separated a bit to make them easier to see. This what you needed?

Here is mine. I did it as I mentioned; unwrap facade from view (I deleted door and window front face, because those will be different objects), then selected the face to unwrap followed by face to follow from, then follow active quads. Then repeated it for all faces. This causes overlapping faces, making it nonsuitable to paint on, but the original question was to “apply brick texture”.

Thank you.
