UV vs Free style

I have been having problems uving pair of trousers in blender 2.6. I have a model that has freestyle (outline cartoon style). I selected all the faces on the pants and unwrapped them and then went to the texture mode to load the texture I have on file, but when I render the pants, the uv is only at the top of the trouser and not the complete pants. It seems that the uv gradually fades to nothing towards the bottom. I never had this problem before, so since I started using freesyle on my models, I wonder if this is the cause.

Just to see if I can uv a cube, I did and it worked okay, but when it comes to a cartoon figure it does not work…?

Problem solved…after reading a tutorial I did not select project from view in the unwrap option…sorry for the post.
