UV Wrap is not showing up (working)

Hi. New member here.

I am having an issue with UV Editing. I am trying to make a playing card and for the life of me, the UV wrap is not working. This is driving me insane, because I’ve done this for many different items, such as dice, with no issues!

I have my UVMap window on one side, and a plane on the right (I even tried a cube).

  • I tab into edit mode
  • Select all on the model window
  • Click on UV in the top nav (after making sure face select mode is on), and I mark seams (which I’m not even sure if that’s needed for a plane?)
  • I then click on the UV dropdown again and select Unwrap or live unwrap
  • I then select an individual face on the model and make sure the image on the left has a bounding box around the area I want to show up (when it’s highlighted orange)
  • I click on Viewport shading mode on the model window so the image shows up, and nothing.

This is driving me mad! I must be missing something simple here. Any help is much appreciated.

For a plane, you could probably do a simple project from view from the top. Unless you have a really weird texture, you should only need one uv island for a playing card.

I really don’t know why it’s not working, but I’m pretty sure to uv unwrap, you need a 3D object.

Err, somehow it sounds like UV map works just fine (“bounding box on the left”…?)
Is the texture assigned in the Material?

A screenshot or a file would be useful. Can you please upload a screenshot or .blend file?

I finally figured it out with your folks help. I forgot to set the surface–> Diffuse BSDF–> Color–> Image. Works now.

Thanks so much!

EDIT: I knew I forgot a step somewhere!
