Variable fillets using bevel weights?

In CAD software, you can easily create smooth variable fillets with nice tapering, but even though blender has a decimal value for bevel weights, it seems to be on/off:

I also don’t see any color coded weight indication on the edge (like 3D Studio Max has, for example), it also seems to be just an on/off thing.

Am I missing something, or is this a shortcoming in Blender?

This is not something you can do in Blender right now. The closest you could come would be to manually put in some angled edges on the faces adjacent to the edge you want beveled, and then use the ‘percent’ mode of bevel, which makes the bevel amount be a percentage of the distance along the adjacent unbeveled edge.

Ah, that’s too bad. Thank you for the information.

Perhaps I’ll make a suggestion on that rightclick site…
