On the surface one may think, hmm, yeah, OK.
But dig a little deeper and this could in fact be a really big deal, especially for anyone doing complex/dense scenes or full studio productions.
The big take away is the possible outcomes from this, that being a full LoD system built into Blender, maybe MIP Mapping in Cycles (something that I think is at the top of the want list for @BlenderBob and no doubt others) and some more ‘love’ for the Linking/Library Overrides system.
