varying textures along a strand help needed

All right.
I posted this elsewhere but in an old thread and I’m keen for any help here.

How do you put one material UVmapped onto the base of a hair, with another material UVmapped onto the tip of the same hair, with a strand mapped blend controlling the blend? I used to know and did it often but now… I’m getting really frustrated with it all. I presume you make 2 maps with the textures set how you want and greate a 3rd material with a strand mapped blend to control it all?

Imagine a Tiger pattern at the base of the hair and a leopard spot across the tip of the hair, not just one colour blending from root to tip.

HELP!!

I worked it out! Simple really, I must have just gotten myself confused. I will post a blend soon.
