Hey, all.
I’ve been going at this for a while now, and I’ve set myself on a mission to create a big space ship/flying vehicle of sorts. I’m starting with the engine, which I’m basing off of multiple references that I found on google, and the Lycoming T53 engine. I’m definitely no expert of engines whatsoever, so my model definitely wont be that accurate. Any suggestions/critiques of the model as it is now would be greatly appreciated!
-What I’m hoping to accomplish soon:
•An accessory drive gearbox
•A better inlet design
•A better segue to the exhaust
•Materials
•Textures for said materials
•More pipes throughout the whole thing
•A shell around the engine that doesn’t cover up too much of the engine itself
-Long term goals:
•A background/scene
•the rest of the ship
I’ve gotten a few basic materials set up (which I would definitely like feedback/ideas on how to improve), and I added a thermo-couple harness at the exhaust. I’m thinking about starting the rest of the vehicle now, but I have no clue where to start. Again, criticism is welcome.
So, I decided to work on a different part of the ship, and seeing as the engine I made was a hybrid between a jet engine and a helicopter engine, I went ahead and made the helicopter blades and rotor hub (It’s a fairly rough design right now, so I’ll probably improve it later). I’m thinking about making the ship something with traverse rotors (which I’ll probably base off of the osprey) I might try making some textures soon, but I’m definitely proud of my current progress.
Alright, so things have slowed down quite a bit since school started back up, but I managed to get down the basic shape/structure of the cockpit. So far I have the very basics of everything (the seat, pedals, very basic console, and the cyclic stick), however I think that the proportions are quite a bit off, especially the actual shell. I’m fairly sure on what to do, but criticism is definitely requested. After I work out some of the kinks, and add a lot of detail, I am planning on getting more into materials and texturing.
Thanks, I’m actually not using subdivisions, just the autosmooth at 30 (it seems a lot better with hard edges). Also, I’m not a master of topology, and I’m not fully sure if I rely on triangulating too much. (btw, I’m about 2 million tris, so I might try to find things to un-subdivide or something)
Thanks, I’m definitely going to try and make this into a full vehicle, so wish me luck :D. I’ve had Blender for a few years, but I just recently got back into it (Maybe a few months back). I have pretty much no training with it except for random youtube videos, which I try to stay away from unless I genuinely can’t figure something out (plus, there aren’t many tutorials on how to make an osprey).
