modelling this… spaceship.
i had one before, but lost it… and another one is needed.
it’s for a game (freedroid), prerendered graphics.
it will be kind of background art, but possible also little animation, like landing on the ground…
and ofcourse those cutscenes we will be having in future.
so, just started out, here it is:
what do you think?
I know I’m not much of a spaceship modeller… but. this one needed to be done.
Great, looks cool. It almost look like a little mech spaceship. Btw, one of the feets of he spaceship look more highpoly as the another one, or is this just that highpoly one has a highter subsurf. But i still look awesome. Keep Blending.
and alright bgdm, I’ll give you some textures now (but only some)…
also, to jd-multi: my method of modelling is like that. I do almost everything from cubes. then I turn on subsurf. the other leg was just sublevel turned down a bit… faster rendering etc…
here’s the whole model in subsurf level 0 so you see what I mean
I love the design, but I get the feeling he is going to tip backwards. it’s not alltogether clear if the thing on the back is a leg, or something else.
anton42: yes, and now that I look at the subsurf-0 picture, it does even look cute in a way
bgdm: reflections are corrected. textures were quicly slapped together, and I used the same material of bases on everything… so couple of things left a little too reflective. I admit. fixed now… but somethings will stay like that… chromed, kind of…
gfx-idiot: thanks for the best comment ever!..
you know, you spend a lot of time trying to find your style on doing things.
in traditional arts I think it’s easier… but in 3d modelling, because of the big technical side on it, it’s quite hard…
so I am really really happy, if I have achieved on finding my style that could be perhaps even recognized…
Modron: it’s possible it would tilt backwards. I shortened legs abit, I guess it helps.
here’s how it looks from the back:
I’m quite happy on it in general so far. but I have big troubles on finding a place for engines.
It has anti-grav system that can carry it, but those engines are always so cool looking, that I definetely want them… even if a really small ones…
Thanks Basse, for the subsurfe 0 level picture. It’s great for me to watch how people model things. When I model like you did on the subsurf-0 picture, it always looks messes up because things will be smaller, but you fixed it with just modeling trough another things. The last picture is also awesome. I really like to see this thing in an animation.
this part of FreeDroid game.
tux will arrive with this thing, on the planet, where the adventure will start.
it will be used ingame, as a decoration, and in a little opening intro…
also, I will be doing “moviepack” when we are in a that state of progress in a game development. moviepack will hold cutscenes etc… you know.
Hey…I can’t get the thing to play…is it a traffic issue? I really love what you’ve done…I think this model is great Basse. It reminds me of the 70’s star trek era, but its much more modern looking than that…
