Vehicle using no python, with proper steering.

I have found a way to get a crude vehicle using only contsraints. It still needs a bit of fine tuning but i have the technical aspect down. If anyone would like to help fine tune it or can give some tips it would be received happily.

Use arrows to control and r to restart.

I wont test your file now, since network is slowing down and i am having another downlload at the same time.

Have you checked out my vehicle physics thread? I’ll dig the link to you soon…

Yea, i did see your topics. Mine is different to your in that the front wheels actually turn to the side when you turn.

Ah, ok
but mine wheels wont turn… and i really can’t download your file now… but i’ll test it later… I really need to see this… ok thx and b

I’d like to see your blend but it says “file not found”

Is this using the RC2’s hinge constraints?

I would like to test file but the link is broken…

Hey hunter can you please upload the file again or fix the link.

I would love to test it!!!

The link doesn’t seem to be right as it has to forward slashes between the .net and files (http://uploader.polorix.net//files/177/car2.blend)

oops. This one works: http://uploader.polorix.net//files/177/vehicle_using_contsraints.blend

Yes, this is using the contraints so open it with RC2 or beyond.

Very cool i just tired it its rather cool

i treid doing that myself but my car like blew up

Yea, it took me a while to get it right. I don’t know if it can be pefected to be actually useful for a racing game though.

can you explain your process of making the contraints please? As in how to you get the wheel to turn?

The back wheels are just constraint to the axis with a hinge joint. The front wheels are attached like this: An empty is constrained to the chassis by a hinge joint on the global z axis and also by a generic joint which constrains the rotation in the global z axis. The wheel is then attached by a hinge enabling it to spin.

Then to get them to turn i just put a little d rot on the emptys.

sweet thanks for the info!

Bah you beat me in making a good vehicle… Now i lost and must retire. :frowning:

Zuker-

Its not very stable. Feel free to pefect it.
