Vernacular Architecture

Hi! I have been working on a series of visualisation featuring Philippine Vernacular architecture. I have just started learning Blender 2 weeks and I can say that I am really loving it.

IVATAN HOUSE

Batanes, the northernmost part of the Philippines, is exposed to frequent typhoons, drought and earthquakes. Behind those extreme weather conditions, the Ivatan people with the guidance of the Spanish missionaries crafted a hybrid vernacular architecture. Embedded with timber reinforcement, an Ivatan house is a box-like stone-and-lime structure with a thick and well-fastened cogon grass roof. The combination of materials was designed to cope against the harsh environment.

Ivatan house is comparable to a couple of vernacular houses from other countries, can you think of one?

Fun fact:
The woman from the scene is wearing a ‘vakul’. It is a headgear, made out of palm fiber, that serves as protection from rain and sunlight.
