This is fun, added some foliage and ladder tiles:

I like your pixel style! What program do you use for pixel art?

Thank you! I’m just extending existing tilemap from Brackey’s tutorial (which is also adaptation from another creators ^^), so I try to fit that style. Let me mark in red what is mine:

And I went for ‘the classic’ with tools: Aseprite :). Got lucky as it was on sale when I wanted to start learning ^^

Quick Pixel Art practice - apple

Now something completely different once again  . Finally sat down to learn a bit of Niagara. I seriously don’t know why I didn’t do it earlier - it’s quite easy so far.

Here’s one practice vfx:

And here is another one I did a few days ago: https://x.com/VertexRage/status/1826688253694796185

Did a little hard surface doodle. Mostly did this as I just learnt (from Dekogo weapon course on ArtStation) that instead of having a cylinder you can basically have a ‘dynamic cylinder’ using screw modifier :D. Plus I wanted to do a bit different things than I usually do, so also used a few latices, radial arrays etc. to have more interesting shape. Texturing done with Sanctus Library.

Wires:

The wires are for ‘high poly’ (that I quickly applied modifiers to have it). The interesting thing about this workflow is that basically I can easily have both high and low poly out of it.

Edit: one more detail… it’s interesting workflow… basically when I hide all the modifiers (lattice, screw, a few booleans, bevel, weld, weighted normals) this is the thing:

Just messing around with shapes. Actually, using remesh + corrective smoothing modifiers is super interesting way to make high polys out of base mesh.

Especially effective when combined with the ‘live’ cutter (that’s a scew modifier on a few edges). That’s the cutter to achieve the previous shape:

And this is how it looks rendered with simple material applied:

I’ve revisited one of my old models and improved it a bit (both in geo and texturing). I am thinking about putting it out there for sale . I have quite a few models like that I think (hope) some might find useful… They were made with games in mind so are optimized (and some of them ‘battle tested’ in game mods like this one - I made it originally for Reforge Eden mod for Empyrion)…

Taking another one from my old models to improve…

This one surprisingly doesn’t have that many issues, but I will still improve texturing on it a little bit and try to find some other small ways to make it better. The one thing in general I dislike about the whole set is inconsistent texel density (I used to eye ball it too much) and UV work (found some not ideally straightened or rotated by 45 degrees islands) . Those things would really take too much to improve :frowning: .

Almost there…

I didn’t know you had a sketchbook! Nifty! I loved your thread with the low-poly assets, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you have been doing here! Happy Blendering!

Thanks! I forget sometimes about it myself, but i when I remember I try to update it as I make stuff. Happy Blendering!

Ok, I’m done with this machine. It was originally called “Small Constructor” as a replacement for a model in Empyrion: Galactic Survival. But since I updated it, did some amount of re-painting and a bit of fixes in geo and I plan to sell it… I need to rename it to be less Empyrion-specifc and more generic. Maybe “High Tech Fabricator - Assembly and Crafting Station” will be a better name? A bit too long for title on images, but I can just use first part there…

Just making renders is what’s left. Btw. I know that UE5 is the king of (real-time) rendering nowadays (and been for quite some time)… but Unity is surprisingly quite good to. Here’s one render from it:

Btw. forgot to mention, that the Scifi Cooking Station has it’s own page here now: SciFi Cooking Station / Food Processor

One last tease before I make separate post for that model…

tbh, I already put it out for sale and made a page for it on my website: https://vertexrage.com/high-tech-fabricator-assembly-and-crafting-station-game-ready-3d-model/ … but I’m just too tired today to wrap it up and update portfolios and annouce it properly

And made a separate page for it: High-Tech Fabricator - Assembly and Crafting Station - Game Ready 3D Model
