I would like to make an animated scene in Blender that would take like 24h or even a week to complete, then loop again.
The idea would be an artwork where a screen would be hanging against the wall, and the scene would be changing slowly over time in the course of a day or a week. So each time you stand before it, you have a slightly different scene.
Now I can’t make a movie that lasts 24h, or 7 days (I think?).
And I would also be interested in some randomization (scripting the animation with a few random parameters), or taking input from eg. a light sensor and react according to that.
Is there a way to have Blender do this in any way?
OK - so the maximum frame number for Blender is 500,000 frames at 24 f.p.s. gives you the maximum time for any animation. That does not mean that you cannot make several animations and join them together with iMovie on a Mac for example. Or you could set the frame to 1 fps giving you 500,000 seconds or 138 hours 53 minutes 20 seconds of animation…
Randomising movements I tend to do with sound files and “Bake the Sound to F-curve” for an empty for example and tie the animation to the Empty’s movement - it looks random, but probably isn’t. You can also use Noise Modifiers on F-curves to give random variation on top of whatever else you have done… As for taking lives input - I have never tried this, maybe someone else has.

Thank you clockmender, interesting. A 1fps movie might be interesting and the easiest solution then.
Thanks for taking the time to answer
You’re welcome, don’t forget that you can also use some motion blur as well to get a smoother transition. - but this only works on full renders
