When i open a blender menu i can follow the menuitems as they are drawn one by one down the menu. This is very annoying and shouldnt need to happen on a fast computer using a graphics accelerator card fresh from the shelf.
I use Linux and nVidia GeForce 5200 with all the latest drivers and libraries. I tried using the dynamically linked as well as the statically linked binaries. no difference. I am so close to give up blender just because of the poor performance, but before i do i thought i might post a desperate post just in case someone can help me with suggestions.
if not, well… i’m sorry i don’t know this problem much, though i heared alot of pp having the same prob.
Generaly they are saying that the blender gui is 2d but it is draw by opengl who don’t realy like it, if I remember right, the version 1.1 of opengl is the problem.
anyway, gather the web, I’m sure there is information on such prob.
Using a clean Global Dictionary.
GL Vendor NVIDIA Corporation
GL Renderer GeForce FX 5200/AGP/SSE/3DNOW!
GL Version 1.4.0 NVIDIA 44.96
which looks ok.
I have noticed that its not just the menus that are slow. Every aspect of the graphical interface is slow. Not sure if the rendering part is slow too since i dont know what to compare with, but the interface sure is slow and consumes lots of processor power. [/quote]
