VFX Challenge Entry - "Anomaly"

Hi all,

Some of you may be familiar with the web show Film Riot, which aims to provide a free online film school. It’s very helpful and also very entertaining, and if you’re interested in film making it’s definitely worth checking out. But I digress.

Film Riot have ‘Monday Challenges’ where viewers are invited to produce a short film within usually two weeks on a certain aspect of film making. This time it was Visual Effects, so I thought I’d give it a shot using some of the models and effects I’ve created.

The idea is based on a UK TV series called ‘Primeval’ where prehistoric creatures come through doorways in time known as anomalies.

The main problem with this I think is camera shake - I decided not to use a stabiliser and to go for fully handheld to try and get a ‘found footage’ feel but I think I may have overdone it a bit. It also made camera tracking pretty tricky.

the tracking looks pretty good, considering the amount of camera Shake
did you have to manually adjust most of the trackpoints or did you actually find settings that allowed you to track?

the camera shake probably also helps, because it all goes so fast that there is no time for the viewer to look for small errors

i have also made an entry for the VFX Challenge and would like some feedback
