Victory Update

We’ve just made an update of the Victory Pic. It’s far away
from perfect (i dont’ like the wood textures on the ship) but we’ll keep on working and improving the scene, so just
for sharing with you.

Bye, Olaf.

Masts and riggings are really nice.

Sails are good, but looks too much like they are made of rigid square pieces joint together… I don’t know if you get my point… They’re not much cloth like. Are they mesh? Try nurbs (Flocks and that sail on the back I can’t remember the english name of are the best)

Hull is good on the bridge, but lacking lots of detail everywhere else. Wood texture is quite poor, you should se board joints, not yellow veins

You can work on the environment too.

Stefano

P.S. If I were the commander of a ship like that I would NEVER go that close to the coast :stuck_out_tongue:

waves darker /more waves.
ok i understand scenery is often the last thing you do so i’m not bothered about the waves that much.

i like the windows on the front.

perhas have it sitting lower in the water it looks like its riding rather high (i’m not a ship expert though)

nothing else to complain about that hasn’t already been said

i like it, it looks like a good scene

The water needs a bit of work, but otherwise, greate scene!

that looks fantastic! your boat rules… :o the sails are wonderful… its just the side of the boat isnt convincinbg to me, its the wood texture u commented on =) maybe try plank textures, that would perfect it
and the water comments the others made would be good to look into

once again, great job 8)

Thanx for all comments and so on…

We’ll try to improve the ship. I’ll try out some other textures and then we will see. The Ship itself as you’ve said need some more details so we’ll keep on working on that as soon as possible.

Hey Iamgrandpaboy: Your Video-Tutorials are very good we’ve learned a lot. Look at the Ford Mustang (it’s early WIP made by a friend of me):

hope you like that what came out by your tut’s  .
(uuh my bad english…,sorry).

See ya, Olaf.

Now, with all this new features in Blender we did a new update.

Scenery is from me, all the new modeling was done by Alex. No textures (i will do them), just plain Materials. And of course with the new softbody feature we will get some good sails too…

More updates soon…

Bye, Olaf.

That makes a difference doesn’t it!

Amazing to see how far the render quality of Blender has come.

The water looks technically very good, no crits there. However I would question how mill-pondish it is. Maybe some larger waves.

As for the boat, it is early stages, but seems to be coming along nicely.

Something to look at when you feel nostalgia for the ‘old days’!

Alex

Well, after a long time new updates:

still lots of details missing :).
I guess ScottishPig would be proud of it…
Have a nice day… Olaf.

bloody hell! thats alot of rope, lloks like you got pretty much every detail.

i have to say it, that is beautiful

NICE work man, i dont like the color of the wood textures, all too “bright” for me, also i think the deck is missing some details and texture,

however this if by far the most extensive work on a ship model that i have ever seen! very nice job bro take a bow!

anyone seen master and commander

the hms surprise?

it looks a lot like the victory, with some changes obviously!

anyway, this model beats the cg one “ilm” did for master and commander, well done!
