Video Editing, Image Input Resolution to Output Resolution

Hello,

Does anyone have any advice for input resolution when creating video from Blender’s sequencer? I have recorded image strips for an animation at 1080p and want my output video to be at 1080p, as well. But, is it better to record at 4k and then compress down to 1080p? Or does it not matter?

Thank you,
Steve

That depends on the scaling algorithm employed by Blender. You used to be ab;e to choose the levels of antialiasing in 2.79 but I’m not sure about 2.8. Generally you’d be better off keeping the pixels the same going in as going out.

Steve, the answer is always “depends on what you’re going to do with the final output.” Render higher than you need to only if you need to.

My 2 cents.

Hello,

Thank you both so much! That really helps.

Cheers,
Steve
