I was just wondering if a video file can open a page, i downloaded a video file and when i run it it opens up a pop up page. I never let the page load though, i don’t want my computer getting hacked. Could this be a virus?

Webpages can be portals for many things. From something as innocent as an advertisement to something as malacious as adware or a virus. A lot of porn videos do that…hmmmmm
acasto is right in the fact that porn vids are notorious for this type of behavior. wondering how he knows.
anyway, to protect yourself, disable active x controls and javascripting in the security settings of your browser
whenever you decide to peruse…
I’m wondering how you know that acasto is right QWERT…
What type of video file was it Pooba? (.avi, .ram, .mpeg, ect.)
Guilty as charged ? You caught me red ahem…anyway. No big secret that porn sites are known for such behavior. Installing dialers, trojans, and even replicator worms that can fill your hard drive in a short amount of time. Some of these sites are created by anti-porn fanatics to increase the dangers of trading such materials on the internet.
DeSoto hipped me to a spyware scrubber called ‘AdAware’. Works great. Available a TuCows I believe.
