Is there a way to add a video into blender on a plane. I know you can add images/textures, but I want a video. I am planing on making a simple animation of a TV where the camera moves around as the TV is on. I have the video I want to add, but I don’t know how.
You can load the movie as a texture and choose sequence instead of still or generated after loading the texture.
See http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual/Animated_Image_Textures
BTW questions like this are best asked in the support section of this forum.
I was playing around doing just that for the first time a few weeks back:
The info in that wiki page is informative, but if you’re a newbie like myself it might be a tad too much to take in.
I worked out myself with just a little playing, that when you have chosen a new image/texture for your plane, you can just load the video file you want, in raw avi format. Then set the amount of frames image/texture to match that of the length of video you have added. Then in the shaders part of the material increase the Emit value a little so that the picture kind of stands out of the plane without having to shine a bright light on it to see it. Build something that resembles a TV around the plane, and voila! It does what I need it to do anyway.
Good luck, hope that helped. I’d be interested to see your TV when it is done.
hey guys how do you do it in blender 2.58a?
The same way, give the plane a material, add a texture and choose “image or movie” in the type box. It will load .avi files and a few other formats.
