video in my games and ... viewport as tex

at the morning i was playing the game hl2
and i have noticed that there were screens as geometries that display a living view of a viewport, as example

a mointor in jail shows what is happining in a park …

how can i make this blender if it is possiple ?

and secondly

how can i play a movie in the game while it is paused and then when the movie is over or skipped then the game is unpaused

Well I don’t know how to do that on blender But if you know how to program a bit of c++ I believe you can make a a program that will start up the video frist and then shut down the video when it’s done. :wink: I know a bit of c++ if you want me to help you out I will try my best I can try and wip up a program for you :wink: waiting for you to answer back

I have came back and I have started on a new program :wink: I am going to take a rest of designing my current game for awhile and work on somthing else. :wink:
That will help out alot hopefully : Some plan’s on what I am going to Add on my software :

1 ) A Rendering Engine
2 ) A 2D And 3D Game Engine { Note : I will try to make the game engine run real particle’s }
3 ) A biuld in chat engine / and try to make it create online game’s
4 ) And a biuld in linker in other word’s you can make a small program that will open up certain program’s :wink:

I have a 15 people team that are going to help me out :smiley: they all know c++ what’s funny is that they are all my friend’s lol But I am glad I have.

A demo will be going out when ever this coding thing work’s !!!
:< We have already made a small demo but not the engine demo and when we make the installation file it messes up the whole project nothing want’s to laod hmmmm… -.- We will figure it out sooner or later :wink:

Why not work with Blender and it’s GE to enhance it?

Or at least work to build hooks to automatically work with another 3D engine ( similar to Crystal Blender ), so that your engine, OGRE, Doom 3 engine etc could be linked up fairly easily.

Hi there as you may know I am working on a new program I have made a small piece of the program. The engine’s are not working at the moment they are still in work. The provided link is a link to a ziped file with a blender game I made with help and the python’s and it has the program c++ inside of it.
{ I named my program C++ } But what it mean’s is Command ++. :smiley: It sound’s cool lol. Well I have finished on it some funtion’s and some neat stuff is on it to. :wink: { Well at the moment only helpfull link’s. If the program dose not work on your PC post it here and tell me what type of PC your running so I can Formated to your type. So far I think It only Work’s For Window’s Xp. It Won’t work for window’s 95 ect…

I say make a game engine from scratch but make it like blender without the modeling so that features like logic, worlds, particals, alpha, color, scrolling, effect, uvmapping, ect can all be done easy and quickly.

Use the GL then use ORGE or CS for the more advance features.

Al_Capone as you may have already known that blender can’t use particle in the game engine my engine with my team are working on right now real time particle’s that work in the game engine and in the rendering engine. But what I think will be the best part of my engine witch will make game designing better is this you know when you render and set OSA it smoothes everything. Right Me and my team are going to make later on somthing like OSA in the game engine and the rendering engine also. And this engine command ++ Will just be a simple click and drag program but what is a challange for us at the moment is making the 3D view Window. But we where talking and we came to the conclusion that we need the ELYSIUN Help :wink:

For the 3D Engine What do you people like better if you can biuld 3D game With a 3D View Or should we make the 3D view a 2D view but then when you run the game it will go into 3D View ?

IMO - I’d like to see that you and your team try to devote your skills onto the first blender engine and build off of that… I’d like to see your skills and I can’t wait to see that engine of your finished. Good luck, Slán.

i suggest that you don’t make it a modeling tool , just tell the 3dengine users that they use blender or wings 3d … etc … and you have to make it simple for every one … just make it for kids … sorry for being late of replying

Hi There So far 3D View Is Winning This Is what the engine will look like :

The project command’s will be what the engine can do you will just have to click on any and drag them into the command window and there you go :wink: . That’s how easy It’s going to be and I will make part of the engine so if you want to code you may be able to. We Got some real time particle’s to work in the engine. But when the engine is finished don’t add that much real particle’s in the game it slow’s it down alot faking them will run faster. and right now part of the team is working on that the other part is working on making it render the game play example : when you hit the play or test button you can set it so before the game start’s it will render the game so it will look nicer.
and as you may have seen on the .jpg image there are some buttons missing we cant think of any things. so do any of you people always wanted somthing in a engine but never found 1 post it here and we will try to add it / make it :wink: . I will be keeping you dude’s up to date everytime I get a chance. :wink: Well I gota get back to working on it :D.

I reccomend you make it simple, where you can use blender and see what your doing… make it so that when you do something with the program it equals something in c++

like python in blender…

True eQuilibrium We Are trying to make it as easy as possible :wink: .I like that Idea of pythons like blender I was planning to do somthing like that :D.
and yes the drag the drop button’s are pretty strong function’s the one’s that we are finished at the moment like the :

1 ) Particle button

2 ) Sharpen Button

3 ) { Almost done the } Subdiv Button

Current 1 is the OSA Button 1

all thoses button’s above will work in the GM And The Rendering engine :wink:

So basicly you will be able to creat a pretty good game with the project command’s so that part of the engine will be very simple ect… for kid’s yet strong hopfully ;). What would be cool is have your game created in Blender and then goto your 3d engine and click “Open” and “Select Blender File” so that you can open up .blend files in the engine. It probably would be hard to implement seeing how you would have to dig into the blender file format and parse it, among other things.

Let’s see, I would like to see draft view, but both would be nice, could have a 2d view with a 3d render.

I don’t got anything against faking particals, it’s just that it’s hard to determan how it’s going to react. One of the greatest frustration with blender is appling location and rotation. Would be nice if there’s a way to tell what direction it will go.

Another one is the billbord, got to keep on rotation the damn thing to get it to work right.

Local be enable by default in logic as well as the rotation and location issue, I have to keep guessing because I don’t know which way is which…

Logic that is use most often made easy, I see logic that make it hard to set up things like keys, switching between items, etc.

A way to copy and paste the logic to other models ?

Removing doubles that aren’t shown so the vertex can be kept low.

Multi texture support and a way to use a seperate alpha map in conbination with a texture.

A way to use the same model “like trees, sighns, ect” in more then one location so that object don’t have to be duplicated.

Texture scrolling like seen on Gecko. Also be nice if it’s multitexture to keep the vertex down and able to use it independently.

A way to glow, brighten or change colors on impact like seen in games like Actraiser.

Link light with a click of a mouse. So if you have like fireball or something it would give out a light with it.

A nethack style to desighn and create maps

Importing model during game play and using markers to postion them so say if you want to keep the vertex low you can just reuse the floor, wall area or bring them in only when it’s near view.

Texture sky and panorama sky to also keep the vertex low and not have to deal with cube maps.

Yes the voting is over and as what some people said is that they would like a 3D view. So what me and my team where talking about is this that if we just make it a 3D view. There might be other people complaining about the engine. So what we came up to is this when the software start’s up you will have 2 options if your want to work on the engine in a 3D view or a 2D view.
