Does this need a stem file format or it works by separating at a frequency-level any wav/mp3 file? ---

It is using Spleeter which is using some kind of AI/machine learning stuff. Google Spleeter for more. ---

Some additional Gsoc ideas: - Update the UI of the VSE modifiers, so they’ll be aligned with the look and functionality of modifiers in the 3d view - using panels and drop and drag. And expose the modifiers visually on the strips. Add additional modifiers. - Rewrite all transitions to work independently of f-curves in a system which is exposed as gizmos on the strips and not as effect strips nor as modifiers. - Add a Text Tool in the VSE preview, which will allow editing the text directly in the preview and support multiline, alignment, outline, visible bounding box and anchor etc. And figure out how to calculate the font size, so the text strip content will look the same even if the resolution of the strip has been changed. The text Strip content could also be drawn on strips in the content area of the text strips. - Implement i/o of the otio format. Maybe too small a project? - Better integration and performance of Scene Strips. - Strip parenting/linking system so ex. audio stips can be linked to movie strips, so sync can be kept. - Add industry standard editing tools like ripple editing for Overlap Modes and the Strip operators. - Make a unified File Browser which supports all VSE friendly files, clean up the import settings, show metadata in the sidebar, allow import of multiple files also when drag and drop, when importing use Overlap Method as insertion method, could also be combined with adding channel selection for importing through the file browser. Add waveform thumbnails for audio files. - Built-in strip roundtrip of VSE strips in the teal time compositor. - Audio: Add VU Meter and additional audio modifiers like noise reduction. - Improve color space handling and color grading, image comparison and curve tools. Design a color grading VSE workspace. - Integrate the Asset Browser into the VSE for bin like footage organization and tagging. - Improve performance and UX of Multi Cam strip editing. Add a Multicam workspace. ---
