I have a few Quicktime movies (*.mov) files that I put into the video sequence editor. My problem is this: I need to render them as *.avi, but when I do that the video is sped up and there is no sound. What can I do?? Thanks in advance.
split out the sound track first and then re-apply it when the video is correct. It is best to convert the .mov to a frame sequence to get rid of any keyframing and encoding. Then you can use the fps setting to convert that frame sequence into an avi.
Being a noob at this kinda stuff, I don’t really know how to go about doing what you just suggested:o…
sorry. ok, so they are in VSE, correct? So, you need to adjust your output frame rate. Right next to where you select AVI as your output format (format panel in the Scene Render buttons in the Buttons window) it probably is set to 25. Change that to 30 if you are in the USA. Now when you save as an avi it will be all good (if your .mov was made in the USA at 30 fps)
Now for the audio. Use a program like VirtualDub to extract the audio from the .mov to a .wav file, and then to add that .wav file to your .avi file.
Most likely, at a guess, it was originally rendered at 25 frames per second and you’re re-rendering at 30 fps. Therefore, thirty frames now fit where 25 frames used to fit. So if you had a video 300 frames long it would last 12 seconds at 25fps (300/25=12) but if you re-render it at 30fps, it will only last 10 seconds. Obviously the difference is more noticeable with longer movies.
Thanks guys, sorry RogerWickes – I wasn’t keeping an eye on this thread for a while:o . This info really helps though.
