Video Sequencer: Image underneath is showing through video during fade out

Hi Guys,

Hope you’ve had a smoother day than me.

So my channels layered from top to bottom are:

Top : Speed control (half speed)
Video/Image strip (at half speed from effect above)
Background Image of sky
Solid colour background (black)

Here’s how it looks during the fade out…

All channels are set to Alpha Over including the speed control but excluding background. For the fades I used right click on the clip then fade from and to, which I think automatically keyframes the opacity for the channel. They all fade at the same time.

How do I achieve that transition without the sky being visible within the ocean etc?

I figured it out.

I cleared all the current fades, then grouped the speed control, video and sky image layers and put a fade on the group.
