Video Sequencer Question

Ok Guys,

Im want to get a little bit more “advanced” in my mixing live action with an animated cylinder aka lightsaber ;-p

Ok Im animating my cylinder and I want to hide it for a couple of frames then bring it back to continue the animation.

The reason I want to do this is when the guy swings his “saber” it compeletly is hidden behind his body and it emerges on the opposite side of his body. I want to hide the saber for a few frames and bring it over to the other side.

Thanks,

ok if you want objects to disappear and reappear change the layers.

Yoer defualt layer should be layer 1
in this layer select the object in the object mode.
press I-key select layer.
got to frame 11 (for example)
press I-key select layer.
(from frame 1 to 11 you should see the object )
go to frame 21
to make the object disappear you have to move the object to a different layer
so press the m-key select layer 2 your object should disapper from layer 1
now go to layer 2
press I-Key select layer now the objeck has a keyframe in layer 2
go to frame 31
press I-Key select layer

now from frem 21 to 31 the object is in layer 2
to make the object reappear you have to move the object to a different layer1
so go to keyframe 41
so press the m-key select layer 1 this moves object to layer 1
go to layer 1
press I-Key select layer from drop down menu
so go to keyframe 51
press I-Key select layer from drop down menu

you should be done
alt-A to play preveiw

Simply hiding the object won’t give you a realistic effect. You really need it to “go behind” the body. I’ve never compositied but I recall a tutorial (might have been by weirdhat I think) which dealt with this. I’m fairly certain you need to model a shadeless object that the saber can go behind.

Search google for something like “compositing live action blender”
