Video Texture Problem

I’ve got a video in wmv format that I want to use as a texture. When I load it into blender it says, “Can not get an image”. It won’t come in as an avi. either. What should I do to get it in? Is it a file format thing?

In shoft, Blender in Windows only accepts uncompressed AVI video files, so you’ll have to transcode it to AVI RAW. Another option would be to save it as a sequence of numbered images. Either of those should load fine. Hopefully that will be enough information to get you started.

That is not correct, Blender will accept any AVI for which a codec is installed.

I don’t know the exact reasons why WMV is not supported, but most other formats are.

PS: K-lite is a popular codec pack, which can be downloaded here it will provide you with a whole bunch of codecs, which should fix most problems.

Oh, darn it. You’re right Mystery, thanks for catching that. I guess I forgot I’m not still living in 2.42a land. Yay for the new image system rewrite.

Thanks for the info. How can I transcode my video to AVI raw or save it as a sequence of images?
