View controls on MacBook Pro

This is probably a really simple fix, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do it, even after looking online for ways to fix it.

I’ve just downloaded Blender 2.5, and I want to start using it more (I’ve been sticking with 2.49, because it’s more familiar). However, I cannot zoom; the gesture that I want to use for zooming (I have a MackBook Pro, so I’m using the trackpad) is set so that it scans around the view instead of zooming. I want to set it to zoom, because zooming is almost essential, whereas I hardly ever use scanning, but as I said above, I can’t find anything about it online, and when I go in Blender and try to edit the key bindings, it won’t recognize the gesture on the trackpad.

File>User Preferences>check - Zoom to mouse position

I found the problem. Apparently, there was already a zoom function in place; I just hadn’t figured it out yet. For the record, it’s the pinching/pulling apart fingers gesture used for photos and stuff outside of Blender.
