Vinyl bench for a cafe or diner

Here are a couple of shots of a bench for a diner booth.

I’m doing some renovation on my website www.gottahavacuppamocha.com and I’m working on a cafe model to put at the top of the main page. The idea is very clear in my head, so it’s just a matter of getting it all down on paper…so to speak.

I put the model and images in a tarball, which can be downloaded here or if that doesn’t work this should.

Nice sofa…

the view is too ‘frontal’ to let actually comment on the model…

some kind of fake-leatherish texture would be nice, maybe.

Cool. I can feel my legs sticking to the seat.

I did a little update of the bench. I changed the panels on the sides of the bench, and added a panel at the back, to try to simulate the fit-and-finish of a real world version. Here is the update, with some more views:

Since this will only be part of a larger scene (the interior of a diner) I’m not too worried about the texture. It’s just supposed to be some sort of glossy/smooth vinyl, which these renders capture pretty well. The black base is maybe a little too black, since it doesn’t show any definition. It’s just supposed to be some sort of wood (or whatever) painted a matte black, but this is a little too matte. I tried adding some reflection and specularity, but it still didn’t show up. I will probably have to fool around with the lighting a bit, but I will leave that for the full scene.

An updated tarball is available here or here.

The “shinyness” is too much, it’s too fake.
