I have been experimenting with voice control software in Windows when my keyboard ran out of batteries and I found it to be really useful and cool. But when I tried to use Blender with it, I had an idea. What if Blender could be developed for voice control use? Would this be useful at all? BTW, I’m dictating this post to my computer.
Holy chiffonade. That’s awesome! Too bad it’s not for Windows.
Voice control isn’t really practical for something like this. It’s slow, cumbersome, and imprecise.
And as for dictation, you’ll soon realize that it doesn’t hold a candle to a full qwerty keyboard. Most of the time, it’s nothing more than a fun toy.
Holy chiffonade, indeed. One of the few remaining hurdles to me dumping Windoze and going to Ubuntu is that Dragon Naturally Speaking don’t work there. This may remove enough of this hurdle to consider it eliminated!
I agree with the above though that it won’t be as efficient as the keyboard for Blender.
After working on the Blender commands for kiku I have to say it’s really not that inefficient, in particular for things like the constraint/modifier menu, view changing, commands involving the right side of the keyboard, etc. Once you start using voice commands it’s really quite nice, even as just a supplemental input.
