Volume to Mesh modifier not working as expected

Hi. I am using GP in combination with Mesh to Volume and Volume to Mesh modifiers to shape some clouds.

Regardless of what parameter I tweak in the Volume to Mesh modifier to fine-tune the cloud quality, the changes seem to go only one way. I mean by this: any parameter I dial down will keep going up if it makes sense.

Am I missing something here?

I have never seen anything like this. Did you somehow create a loop in the modifiers?

Like the same object getting turned back and forth between mesh and volume in an infinite loop (if Blender even allows that)?
