Hey. This is a volumetric smoke demo that I adapted from Salvador Mata’s tutorial on volumetric fire in the Blender Renderer. It’s a nice little demo, and the setup isn’t too complex. However, what this also does is emit smoke in a volume, which can be useful if you’re going for a smoke effect like a line, plane, or box of smoke, like Little Big Planet, for example. It works fairly well, except that you can’t rotate the box in-game (the smoke won’t follow the rotation). Other than that, it’s pretty good. It only will display correctly in GLSL mode, but the smoke can easily be adapted, I believe, to Multitexture mode. Anyway, have fun with it.
Hey, you’re Salvador Mata, aren’t you? Thanks for the volumetric tutorial. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without it. If you’re not him, then pass it along.
