Volumetrics stopped working in Eevee

Blender 4.2 LTS, Win10, 64Bit.

Sometimes Volumetrics won’t work in the new Blender version.
They worked yesterday, but when I re-open my files today, volumetrics in Eevee are missing. They are not rendering, not in viewport and not in final render.

Blender v. 3.3 works fine with volumetrics, so it is definitely not my GPU.

Yesterday I had 4.2 Beta, and it stopped working there. So I updated to 4.2, and it worked. But now, after re-opening my files they stopped working again.

Closing Blender entirely, then re-opening the application, it works again.

I suppose this is a bug?
Anybody else encounter this?

I tried it yesterday and played with the settings and suddenly the scene was broken. Changing settings didn’t fix it. It’s the first implementation, so bugs are expected, i guess

I’ve noticed it’s about every 2nd. time I start Blender, it works/doesn’t work.

Right. I wanted to do a fog pass and test how fast it is compared to cycles, but after investing time to setup and ending up with a broken scene, i decided, ill wait till its more mature. You could send a bug report. I did that a couple of days ago, because the cryptomatte passes where broken. Got a reply a day later that said they already fixed it for 4.3. So maybe that’s worth it.
