Hey there I use After Effects at work and want to compare VSE to it at home.
In After Effects I can import a png file with a alpha channel and it just works when added to the timeline. In VSE I can’t seem to get it to work and anti aliasing seems awful.
Am I missing something?

Sounds strange, actually I have tarted dropping out after effects usage and finding Blender more quick and easy to handle sequencing, editing and compositing. can you specify any sample?
Best to use a file format that is made for the purpose such as OpenEXR, or MultiLayer if AE supports it. PNG is a “display” format.
To the aliasing issue, the VSE always scales imported media to project dimensions. Try to match the project to the source media. Also increase the Anti-Aliasing sample size in the project properties panel.
