Hi. I haven’t found very much documentation nor tutorials on this (what I’m hoping is very cool) add on. Really, just that 2:50 silent YouTube.
Got any pros or cons? Know of a better help file?
Thanks,
Cal

I looked it up out of curiosity, but I don’t have any information
I leave some links I found.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Hi.
First and foremost, thank you for your quick reply! I can tell you care about your app.

From childhood I wanted to be a “sound guy”. My dream? Create “The Next Sgt. Pepper”. But wrote software instead - easier to make money. Have written several C/C++/VB audio apps.

Did you ever seek to add a narrator?
On the top half, obviously, is the sequencer. How do I make that bottom display show up like that? I pressed Send Script, and it appeared in Audacity, but not in Blender like yours does.
I must’ve missed something.
Thanks,
Cal
The lower part is just audacity scaled, so both the vse and audacity are visible on the same screen.
You need to follow the instructions on GitHub to set up Audacity and Blender, in order to get the pipe working. When it is set up correctly, you can transfer the VSE audio file data to audacity, where it can be manipulated, and then it can be returned into Blender.
So, I’m viewing the 2 apps at once? In the foreground is Audacity, taking up the bottom of the picture. And behind it is Blender.
Is that correct?
Both are minimized in height so they do not overlap.
As mentioned on GitHub have the Audacity team removed the pipe Play function, so you’ll have to use the an older version of Audacity(from before the buyout) or use the mentioned fork.
Thanks. I downloaded Tenacity, and will see how it goes.
I’m sure that many of us would love to see a really good audio add on become a permanent part of Blender.
The “Play” pipe still has an error using Tenacity. (Blender 3.3,5)
I made this change:
…\audacity_tools_for_blender-main\operators\play_stop_in_audacity.py
Go to Line 74, and make this change:
#scene.frame_current = sound_in
scene.frame_current = 1
Seems OK so far. Fingers crossed!
If you want to know what will happen to attempts to improve the audio tools of Blender - then read here: https://devtalk.blender.org/t/vse-and-sound-state-future/21904
Interesting. I will keep my eye on this thread. At the moment there seems to be a lot of banter… that I hope will cause an amazing (built in) audio system.
As we all know, the single image, photo-real side of Blender gets the most attention. And us animators are left hoping for some new cool stuff.
Happy Blendering!
PS - BTW - I’ve tried several work flows with tenacity and my “tweaked” version of the “Play” code. So far, so good!
TL;DR: After investing more than a full year the contributor gave up: https://devtalk.blender.org/t/vse-and-sound-state-future/21904/62
You will not experience the PlayLooped problem in the fork: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/is-playlooped-changed-broken/65311
If you find any other bugs then pls report them on github.
When you started this thread, what info do you wish you had about this add-on, which would have allowed you to jump right in?
Some sort of “Here’s all the fantastic things this add on can do”.
Either as text and pictures… Or a brief video with narration - like the Blender videos for new releases.
Frankly, I like text and pictures better, but if I like the video, I can always “screen capture” it, and then watch it over-and-over.
Audacity now has some more “live effects”. That would be a nice addition in tenacity (if you’re involved with them).
But, thanks for your interest. As I said earlier, I can tell that you care about this app. Thanks!
PS -
What’s that?
Internet slang… ‘Too Long, Didn’t Read’.
@calpgrmr Feel free to do a tutorial on the add-on. I’m not a native English speaker. Or if you want to do a write-up on the features, Github have a wiki option those things can be added to.
