Hi,
here’s the problem:

When importing any video, there is no preview in the VSE image window. Rendering works fine though.
The system runs WinXP professional SP3, has the latest intel video driver installed and 3d support turned on.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to deal with it?
I reported this bug months ago. Not sure what the deal is. It happens on my laptop with intel video. It doesn’t happen with 2.49b. I don’t think there is a workaround unfortunately. So the VSE is useless sometimes, I know.
Here is the link to the bug tracker report. Maybe you could add a quick note there so this gets more attention since the VSE is so important and this report was filed way back on April 19th.

Anybody else experiencing this?
+1 on XP pro. Not always however, but some builds.
Thanx for the info guys. Considering that most people around here still have machines running windoze xp, promoting Blender for video editing is out of the question!
I did a workshop yesterday afternoon on video editing. Participants were 25 educators interested in integrating digital media into their practices (presentations, mashups, vlogs, screencasts etc). All the workstations at the school computer lab run win xp and I planned to use one of the latest svn builds. Nope! White preview upon adding content. Tried the official alpha 2, same problem. Even tried a few optimized builds but to no avail. I ended up using 2.49b! :-(((
This is soooooooooooo disheartening…
Convincing people to give an open source app such as Blender a try is one thing; telling them that they must ditch windoze if they want to use that open source app is probably over the top.
Quite a few participants told me that the choice of software was very unfortunate and that we’d have been better off using movie maker! :-0
@loopduplicate: thanx for reporting the bug which I also confirmed. Let’s hope it receives some attention.
