Wacom tablet stylus round end not drawing

Q1: Any suggestions on adjusting this round end control please?
Q2: Also, what would the red circle be for anyway?

Hello, Blender is great with more control than when I draw on Inkscape or GIMP.

This means Wacom tablet model: Wacom BAMBOO FUN CTH-661/S(A) stylus round end I usually draw with, actually uses its function (whatever that may be?) when pressed.
This means Blender 2D Animation shows a red circle rather than drawing smoothly.

The pen tip end of the stylus works well and increases radius if I press harder, however I prefer the softer round end touch for drawing.

Also, possibly pertinent to the issue, I have to run these commands to set stylus to 1 rather than all 3 monitors and have the tablet work for the left hand.

xsetwacom --set "Wacom Bamboo Comic 2FG Pen stylus" MapToOutput "HEAD-1"
xsetwacom --set "Wacom Bamboo Comic 2FG Pen stylus" Rotate half

The round end is the Eraser- it doesn’t draw in any drawing program, including Blender (by default, anyway). Some programs let you change what it does, Blender does not. The Eraser end in Blender acts as the grease pencil erase.

See: https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/96722/reassign-pens-eraser-end-drawing-mode , note that there’s no answers or solutions, this hasn’t changed in more recent versions of Blender

Yes, I’m aware it’s an eraser…just a name I’m not common to using/writing.
I might have forgotten it erases in Blender as it’s quite realistic and takes a few rubs.
I was then testing on a blank canvas, hence forgetting the erasing function.

The eraser draws nicely in Inkscape though, which I have been using.
Would be nice to be able to change, as the round end is easier drawing, like using a crayon (from my amateur POV).

Trying some more drawing with the stylus’ pointy end, but I’m worried the tablet’s surface will be damaged over time.
I’d much prefer the round eraser end to be used for drawing like a crayon. Was hoping someone has added a program code line to ‘flip the stylus upside down’ I guess?

The pointy end is for drawing. You can adjust your pressure settings for a lighter touch, if you want

The pointy end is literally what was designed to be used for drawing. My Wacom is over 10 years old, and I have not ground the tip through the surface of the tablet.

The tips do wear out over time, but it also comes with replacement tips.

Get yourself an Intuos 3, they’re usually cheap used and you can get all kinds of nice pens for it. I think the marker pen might work best for your situation.

 Thank you, this seems to be the information I was looking for.
My Wacom Bamboo is a consumer level entry product whereas Intuos is a high end professional tool (prices seem affordable though).

Intuos 3 is pretty old these days but has the same pressure sensitivity as the Bamboo so your Bamboo is just as good of a tool, it just doesn’t have any alternative pens.
