The distortion was from the panoramic camera itself, from within Cycles Camera Settings.

You used the displacement modifier to obtain this “bent paper” effect?
More inspiration in this lo-poly/origami/papier mache look. Love it so much, very inspiring. Thanks for the wire view too. Gotta ditch some polys soon too and have a crack at this idea.
